Compassionate Employers is a programme from Hospice UK that will help you support colleagues and employees affected by terminal illness, death and bereavement. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, death and bereavement have become a much bigger part of our lives and has created a lot of change.
When working in the end of life sector, you are faced with death, dying and bereavement all the time - yet this does not make you or your colleagues immune to grief. You may find that your employees or colleagues will need extra support, particuarly if they are facing similar issues in their personal lives. They may be a carer for someone terminally ill, had a diagnosis themselves or grieving.
It is important to provide support for employees should they require it.
Why become a Compassionate Employer?
In joining the Compassionate Employers programme, you will gain access to resources, tools and information to help you support your staff. This includes:
A selection of practical guides for employees, line managers and HR teams.
Online members' area
An online members’ area for all of your employees, containing digital copies of our resources, advice and topical content. You will have unlimited access for all members of staff.
Assessment and recommendations
You will receive a self-assessment tool, feedback meeting and recommendations to help you become a compassionate employer.
Two training workshops tailored for your line managers and HR teams, are included as part of the programme. Workshop topics include: ‘Compassionate Employers in your workplace’, ‘Understanding bereavement’, ‘Handling difficult conversations’ and ‘Supporting carers and people with terminal illnesses in the workplace’.
A dedicated Hospice UK account manager will support you and help you make full use of the Compassionate Employers programme.
You will be invited to all networking and educational events with the wider compassionate employers community.
