A report by Government watchdog the Care Quality Commission (CQC) has found that one-fifth of NHS hospitals are falling below legally required standards of care for elderly people. The CQC found at least 20 hospitals where care was so poor that patients were denied ‘the basics in life’ – eating, drinking and going to the toilet. The report warned that staff in some NHS trusts were ‘putting paperwork over people’. Have you experienced first-hand problems with elderly care in NHS hospitals? Or perhaps you or a family member had a positive experience. Please share your experiences.
