'What can you do?'
This year, Dying Matters Awareness Week's theme is 'what can you do?'. This aims to get people more active in planning for dying and death and helping support those who may need it in times of grief and bereavement, be they friends, family or in your wider community.
The Northern Health and Social Care Trust are organizing an event in the Glenavon House Hotel, Cookstown on Tuesday 9th May, starting at 9.45am until 2pm. This event offers the opportunity for people and local community or church groups to come together to hear more about how best to plan for their future care. There will be a number of exhibitors present who will be able to advise you of the services that they offer, which will be a fabulous opportunity to hear and also get more information. One of the Palliative Medicine Consultants will present on how important it is for you to plan for the future and communicate this with your family. At this event the regional advance care planning book will be launched - 'Your Life Your Choices: Plan Ahead', which is a really great resource for all. We will also be hearing from a local solicitor, on the importance of writing your will and putting your affairs in place. There will be an opportunity to ask those all important questions to the panel of speakers. The morning session will finish with some entertainment and a lunch.
