Sharpham Meadow Natural Burial Ground Open Day
This day is for you if you are:
- Interested in finding out how to reserve a burial or an ashes burial plot
- Exploring alternative funeral ideas
- Funeral directors and businesses who may be unfamiliar with Sharpham Meadow
A beautiful site with incredible vistas
Sharpham Meadow is unique in the South West as an eco-burial site because it is not a woodland and there are no trees.
The site is cared for as a hay meadow, hence the grass is allowed to grow long and cut periodically.
This allows flora and fauna to flourish there – including skylarks, hares and wild flowers.
The meadow was created in 2013 by the Sharpham Trust which is the charity that looks after the 550-acre Sharpham Estate. Any income generated from the burial ground goes towards covering the costs of running the site and the Trust's other charitable activities.
As it is owned by the Trust the site will be protected in perpetuity.
