Based on Nikesh Shukla's award winning autobiographical novella, The Time Machine, Salt in the Sugar Jar invites you into an intimate storytelling performance that combines the preparing, cooking and sharing of food with a funny and bitter-sweet reflection on memory, family and grief.
And yes, there will be food.

Nikesh Shukla is a Bristol based writer of fiction and television. This is his first work for theatre. His debut novel, Coconut Unlimited, was shortlisted for the Costa First Novel Award, and his most recent novel Meatspace is out now and according to the Guardian 'Like Douglas Coupland's Generation X, this novel captures a cultural moment'. The Time Machine, the novella on which Salt in the Sugar Jar is based won Best Novella at the Sabotage Awards.

Salt in the Sugar Jar is commissioned by MAYK and Theatre Bristol with additional support from Asian Arts Agency. Supported using public funding through Arts Council England.
