The English Community Care Association (ECCA), the leading representative body for independent care providers, is delighted to announce the formation of a strategic partnership between themselves and the Dying Matters Coalition, an initiative by the National Council for Palliative Care (NCPC), which aims to promote public awareness around dying, death and bereavement.

New research, commissioned by the Dying Matters Coalition, shows that less than a third (29%) of people have discussed their wishes around dying and only four per cent have written advance care plans, despite the fact that more than two thirds (68%) of people questioned say they are comfortable talking about death.

The Church of England has joined nearly 7000 organisations in the national Dying Matters Coalition. Led by the National Council for Palliative Care (NCPC), working closely with the Department of Health (DH) and other key stakeholders, the coalition aims to promote public awareness around death, dying and bereavement.
Hospice UK, which runs the Dying Matters campaign, has responded to a new report from the University of Bath’s Institute for Policy Research (IPR) that says that the UK is ‘ill prepared’ to respond to the needs of our ageing population.
