Islington Dying Matters Festival: Dying for a Cuppa
Do you think death is depressing? taboo? sad? not to be talked about? We’re challenging you to think again and open up to death being part of life! And realise that it can also be fun and empowering.
Look out for our very own coffee trike complete with barrista! And come and join us.
Our open air cafe will be staffed by Age UK Islington Future Matters volunteers and staff who will be available to talk to you about wills, powers of attorney, advance care plans and any issue around death and dying.
Why should we talk about Death and Dying? Because it reduces worry, anxiety and fear about the future. Because it ensures we know what our loved ones want and are able to care for them in the best way. Because it opens a door to those who are facing terminal illness or the death of a loved one… Because it is life affirming! It is when we face our death that we make the most of our (finite) lives.
This event is part of the Islington Dying Matters Festival: Lifting the Taboo and Developing Dialogue around Death, Dying and Bereavement. A series of events are taking place across Islington, giving people numerous opportunities to think about, reflect upon and re-engage with us on the subject.
