Before I Go: Creating Your End of Life Plan

Event Details

11 November 2017 to 12 November 2017
Event Region:
South West
Contact Name: Jane Duncan Rogers, Director
Phone number:

You will receive a copy of the Before I Go Workbook, worth £15, and covering over 140 questions about end of life matters, and you will begin to complete this in the workshop itself. How much of that will depend on what you already have in place.

For example, if you don’t have any of the legal requirements sorted, you will be guided as to exactly what step is appropriate for you to do next. If you are unclear about how you want your body to be disposed of, or what kind of funeral you want, you will be able to get clear, and know exactly what to do next to ensure that happens.

Couples are very welcome - when you do this together, you will find it an unexpectedly intimate thing to do.
Overwhelmingly, previous participants have said that they enjoyed the workshop and found it very useful - not to mention fun! Here's what one woman said:
"On an emotional level, this class helped me feel so grateful for my life, the people in it, and the choices I get to make. On a practical level, the worksheets, supplemental materials, and informative class conversations helped me to prepare the legal and personal documents that will make dying and death easier on myself and my family. And you know what? The class was FUN. It was life-affirming and joyful. Don’t be afraid to talk about death; it just may bring you to life!" Sherry R-B.
The workshop is on two afternoons because you may need some time in between to process some of the material that arises; and also to take care of some administrative matters that may arise for you, such as locating documents.
You must let Lucy know beforehand if you have up to date will in place, a power of attorney (for welfare and financial) and an Advance Directive. It is fine to answer no to all these questions! It is just so Jane knows at what level all participants are at. Contact Lucy Lidell 01453 840200 or 07960 269136

Jane is known as an inspirational speaker, you can see her TedX talk 'How to Do A Good Death', on her website:

Should you wish to talk to Jane herself before committing to this workshop, with any questions or any other reason, that can be organized. Please speak to Lucy in the first instance, on the number above.
FOR A TASTE OF JANE'S WORK, COME TO A TALK! Jane will be giving a talk 'on Friday 10th November introducing some of the ideas behind why so many say it is a good idea to have an end of life plan, but so few actually do it.
